By Alan Whitehorn

This bilingual (English/Western Armenian) collection of personal and political poems expresses the enduring, painful legacy of the Armenian Genocide. It reveals the survivors' trauma and the separation and fragmentation of life in the Diaspora. The book also takes the reader on an intellectual odyssey to the four points of the compass of the author's ancestral homeland. In the later sections, some of the challenges facing contemporary Armenian society are explored and the quest for identity in a complex and cosmopolitan world posed.

Alan Whitehorn is a poet and emeritus professor of political science at the Royal Military College of Canada located in Kingston. He is the grandson of an orphan of the Armenian Geocide. He was born in the UK and immigrated to Canada in the 1950s. As a poet, he explores the issue of genocide and its impact on Armenian identity.
